May 25th - 28th : Bank holiday family events around the railways

It’s holiday time at the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways and we are putting on a series of activities for all the family over the Whitsun week.

Come and join in the fun which is taking place from Monday 25th to Thursday 28th May.

Tan y Bwlch station on the Ffestiniog Railway nestles in a small wooded valley in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The station cafe offers a tempting selection of freshly made snacks. Younger children can be kept amused in the playground next to the cafe and there will be bunting colouring and large blackboard fun. If you fancy a walk, a gateway in the car park takes you into the Coed Llyn Mair nature reserve with paths leading down to the sparkling lake below. Longer walks are available and Plas Tan y Bwlch gardens are only a twenty minute walk away.

A busy Tan y Bwlch

Beddgelert station on the Welsh Highland Railway also has some family activities beside the platform and the ladies from Beddgelert church will be providing everyone with tea and a selection of their home made cakes. From the station it is a short walk down into the village or to the river and Gelert’s Grave.

Feeling hungry after your day out? Take the 1805 train from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog for the ‘Food On The Move’ Chip Shop Train – Enjoy your fish and chips whilst watching the scenery go by. Advanced booking is required by phoning 01766 516024.

Plan your visit.
