02 October 2014
Over the weekends of 20/21 and 27/28 of September 2014, Palmerston was in operation on the Vale of Rheidol Railway.
The loco is no stranger to the railway, having performed there many times in the early years of the 20th century supporting the early years of growth of the railway, both during and after the First World War.
Chris Jones was on hand to witness the exciting spectacle of Palmerston taking 4 carriages up the steep grades.
The last visitor from the Ffestiniog Railway was ALco Mountaineer which visited for one weekend only in Autumn 1986. It presented a good sight with the brown and cream carriages.
There are other scenes of Mountaineer at the Vale of Rheidol in the Mountaineer gallery.
