Following the approval of the £235,000 spend by the Ffestiniog Railway Society on the new Minffordd workshop, work has begun on the preparation of the ground for the construction to start.
This work was carried out over the Easter weekend with many machines in use to provide the foundations and drainage required before erection of the shed can commence. This work was carried out by Whitehouse Construction as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Charter.
Whilst preparing the groundworks for the new infrastructure workshop, the opportunity was taken to landscape the end of the field to make more level ground for camping.
Additional work in Minffordd yard in recent weeks and months has seen the clearance of the area near the goods shed and coal hole to make space for the new Waggon Tracks shed, to provide undercover storage for the unique fleet of freight rolling stock, primarily the slate waggons.
