The £150,000 restoration to traffic of Welsh Pony has seen a major milestone with the delivery of parts for the new boiler.
The designs for the new boiler were completed in early February.
The major components delivered for the new welded boiler include the long boiler barrel (part will be cut away to leave the top side of the outer firebox) and the firebox sides. These have been delivered rolled and cut to shape as much as possible, leaving lots of work (drilling, weld preps) before they are ready to be assembled.
Further parts yet to be delivered include flanged items that are on order.
