The Play Area was created in 2006, when it contained only the very popular signal box, a xylophone, and a fairly basic wooden train. Noting its popularity, the FR Society soon funded a number of additional items of play equipment, with welcome assistance from the Friends of Plas Tan y Bwlch. The original equipment has been repaired and replaced as necessary until this year, when a major upgrade has taken place. An extension into what was the Tea Room’s back garden has been created with additional equipment installed, and the whole area has been given a soft recycled rubber surface. Once again the funding for the whole renovation and extension project has come from the FR Society, which considers this ongoing investment a very pleasing way of supporting the FR’s activities and the ongoing development of Tan y Bwlch.
